Meet the Staff…

Candy Sherwin


Office Manager

Candy graduated from University of Wyoming in 1991 with a degree in Secondary English Education. She moved to Idaho to be with her sister in 1992. Within that time she has worked in several different fields including Early Childhood Education where she received her High Scope Curriculum Trainer Certification. She started working on the weekends at Ada Boarding and Grooming in 2000 and in 2005 was fortunate to become Office Manager of both facilities. She loves working with the animals and staff and is currently enrolled in the CSI Veterinary Assistant program and enjoys learning something new each day from everyone working at the Hospital.

She has a “canine clan” consisting of: “Maggie” Border collie mix 10 ½ yrs, “River” red heeler mix 2 ½ yrs, as well as her feline addition, “Kemo” 9 ½ yrs. She has fostered several animals and enjoys it immensely although it is sometimes hard to see them go to new homes. (River started out as a foster, and apparently, didn’t quite make it to a new home!) Her hobbies and interests include family, animals (some Rally-O dog training), singing, and flower gardening, reading and cooking.

Mary Hill


Receptionist

Mary grew up in Washington State near Seattle. The military brought her husband and herself to Idaho 23 years ago. Mary was a nail technician in Mountain home for 10 years prior to moving to Boise and coming to work for Ada Animal Hospital. Her hobbies include making jewelery to sell, scrapbooking, rubber stamping and gardening. She is the mother of one son and her family also consists of a small terrier mix dog “Heidi”, “Calvin” an orange and white cat, “Belle” a calico cat and “Richocet” or “Ricki” a black and white cat with no tail at all! She also fosters kittens for Northwest Animal Companions until they are old enough to adopt out.

Stefanie Bohman


Receptionist

Stef grew up in Virginia and earned her BS in Marine Biology from Roger Williams University in Rhode
Island. She moved to Boise over a year ago from Alaska. She started to work for us in Sept. 2010 and
also volunteers at Zoo Boise. She really enjoys working with animals and has two of her own. McKinley
and Eddie, both of the feline nature, both 7 years old. Her hobbies include kayaking, snowshoeing,
and playing with the penguins and monkeys at Zoo Boise.

Judd Ballard


Head Tech

Judd grew up in Cache Junction (small town in northern Utah) on a ranch. He has had a lot of different animals over the years (mostly strays). His current dog “Zora” (German shepherd) has been certified as a Wilderness Search and Rescue K-9 (SAR) since 2008. His hobbies include his real job as a river guide on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park with Grand Canyon Dories/Oars and just being outdoors, ie: camping, backpacking, hiking, rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, rafting, and, of course, SAR K9 handler with Idaho Mtn Search and Rescue. Judd moved to Boise in 2005 and has been with us since Dec. 2006.

Dagan Anderson

Tech

Dagan grew up in Challis, Idaho. He started working at Ada Boarding and Grooming in June 2003 and then came over to the hospital in May 2004. He has a very lovable Rottweiler “Donna” who is 4 yrs old. When he is not at the Hospital he is with his 4 yr old son and also enjoys hunting, fishing, and long walks in the forest/desert.

Stephanie Edwards


Tech

Stephanie is most recently from N. California where she met her husband who is an Agriculture teacher as well as the FFA advisor at Kuna H.S. She got her B.S. in Exercise Biology at University of California, Davis. Stephanie started working as data entry (when our computer system failed) in September 2007 as well as helping out in back then became a tech. Her main priority now is taking care of her adorable son.  She also enjoys crocheting, quilting, photography, cooking, gardening, biking, camping, and maintaining this website.

Samantha Hall

Tech

Sam grew up in Pocatello, Idaho. She attended ISU and completed 2 years and then went to Brown Mackie College and got an Associate Degree in Science. She did her externship with us and after it was completed we decided to hire her in June 2011. She has 2 pets: 9 year old yellow lab, “Sadie Mae” and 4 year old orange tabby, “Kitty.” She also has a 5 year old son. Her hobbies are reading, dancing, running and watching movies.

Brenna Ryer

Tech

Brenna grew up in Prescott, Arizona. She has one cat named “Bones”. She started working for us in October 2011 because she wanted to learn more about taking care of animals and to have a meaningful job.  She’s attended Sierra South Horse Shoeing School and Yavapai College. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, camping and hiking.

Gilbert Mendoza


Kennel Manager

Gilbert grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, but now lives in Idaho City. He started working at Ada Boarding and Grooming in February 2000. He has an associate degree in Drafting Tech. His love and compassion for animals starts at home with his 3 dogs, 4 cats and 3 guinea pigs (see Tasha below for animals age and names). His compassion goes beyond animals; his head of hair goes to “Locks of Love” about once a year. His hobbies are hunting, fishing, camping, playing with guns (firing range) and, of course, hanging with his pets.

Brooke Wells


Kennel Tech

Brooke hails from Mountain Home, Idaho. She started working for us in June 2007. She is the proud mom of the cutest little boy and she has a great pit bull mix “Rosie Sue” who is 8 yrs old. Her favorite movie is Fight Club and enjoys playing softball and going fishing. When she gets older she wants to be a Hairstylist and nail tech.

Garrett Oleson


Kennel Tech

Garrett was born and raised in Ontario, Oregon. He started working at Ada Boarding and Grooming
in June 2010. He has always wanted to work with animals and has a cute Siamese cat named Peanut.
His hobbies include football, fishing and hunting, working out, reading, camping and playing all types
of guitars. He graduated from Emmett High School and is now furthering his education at College of
Western Idaho in Nampa.

Tasha Oleson


Head Groomer

Tasha grew up in New Plymouth, Idaho. She started working at Ada Boarding and Grooming as a Kennel Tech in September 1999. Her best attribute is her willingness to work with clients on their pet’s hair style. Current pets: (dogs) “Zorro” Chow cCow 10 yrs, “Jasmine” doxie 8 yrs, “Scrappy” mutt 1 ½yrs, (cats) “Nelli” DSH 3 yrs, “Chester” DLH 10 yrs, “Shavah” DLH 12 yrs, “T.K.” DSH 2 yrs, (guinea pigs) “Paper Clip” 2 yrs, “Thumb Tack,” “Hippi Dippi.” You can find Tasha when she’s not at work picking wild berries, hunting, camping, fishing, and of course being MOM to all her pets.

Arin Cole


Groomer

Arin was born in Santiago, Chile, but grew up in Houston, Texas. She  started working at Ada Boarding and Grooming about 10 years ago and then moved on to groom animals elsewhere.  We are so fortunate to have her back with us. Her love for animals shows with the amount of pets she has.  They are, “Hanna”  golden retriever 10 yrs old, “Millie” golden retriever 4 yrs old, “JB” pug 3 yrs old, “Meow Meow”  dsh 12 yrs old, “Yoshi” 2 yr old orange tabby.  Some of her hobbies other than grooming our fluffy pals include: Gardening, hiking and swimming with her children, and playing with her dogs.
