Services We Provide

Basic Services:

Routine Examinations:
A routine examination includes weighing the animal, taking its temperature, listening to heart and lungs, examining the ears, eyes and teeth, a complete exam by the doctor, and addressing any concerns the owner might have.

Vaccinations:
For canines we provide the bordetella, DHPPC, rabies and rattlesnake vaccines
For felines we provide the feline leukemia, FVRCP and rabies vaccines.

Micro-chip Implantation:
The micro-chip, from the company HomeAgain, is implanted between the shoulder blades and is injected much like a vaccine. It is used to help reunite a lost pet with its owner. A micro-chip can be implanted at any office visit.

Soft Paws:
Soft paws are an excellent alternative to declawing a cat. They are vinyl caps that are glued to the cat’s claws that prevent damage from them from scratching. Soft paws generally last for 3-4 months.

Drop-off Services:
For those days when life is busy and you don’t have time to spend at the vet. Ask about dropping your pet off to be seen by the doctor while you attend to other things.

Nutrition Counseling:
Animals have an ideal/healthy weight range just like people. Our doctors are knowledgeable about how to help you, as an owner, keep your pet healthy. To aid in your pets nutrition we sell Eukanuba, Science Diet, and Hill’s Prescription Diet dog, puppy, cat, and kitten food.

Dentistry:
A free dental exam can be done at any appointment. We perform dentals Monday through Friday. A dental includes placing an IV catheter, general anesthesia, ultrasonic cleaning, polishing and the first application of oravet. The patient also receives a complimentary physical exam and a nail trim.

General Surgery:
General surgery includes, but is not limited to, spays, neuters, and lump removals. Most general surgeries are done with a surgical laser. All surgeries are done with an IV catheter in place and a technician monitoring vitals while the patient is under anesthesia. All patients who under go surgery receive a complementary physical exam and nail trim.

Pharmacy:
There is a pharmacy right in the clinic. Most medications that are prescribed can be purchased at the clinic. Some prescriptions can be called/faxed to another pharmacy for the client’s convenience. Please allow 24 hours for prescription refills.

Specialty Services:

Radiology and Ultrasound:
Radiology includes taking x-rays, developing them, and the doctor interpreting them. Our doctors do ultrasounds occasionally but usually they have professional radiologist come to the clinic to perform an ultrasound.

PennHip Registration:
University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement (PennHIP) is a program that was developed to test dogs susceptibility to hip dysplasia. There is no surgical or medical cure for hip dysplasia but diet, medication and certain activities can slow the course of the disease. Veterinarian’s that have completed special training to perform the PennHIP procedure can diagnose and help treat. The procedure is done by taking x-rays of the dog’s hips while they are completely relaxed under anesthesia. More in depth information can be found at www.pennhip.org or by contacting Ada Animal Hospital.

Orthopedic Surgery:
Orthopedic surgery includes, but is not limited to, ACL repair and leg fracture repair. All surgeries are done with an IV catheter in place and a technician monitoring vitals while the patient is under anesthesia. All patients who under go surgery receive a complementary physical exam and nail trim.

Soft Palate Reduction Surgery:
Soft palate reduction surgery is performed on dogs that have an elongated soft palate to reduce the length of the soft palate. This problem is often seen in Boston Terriers, Pugs, Bulldogs and Boxers. All surgeries are done with an IV catheter in place and a technician monitoring vitals while the patient is under anesthesia. All patients who under go surgery receive a complementary physical exam and nail trim.

In/Out Clinical Laboratory Services:
There are some blood, urine and fecal tests we are able to do in our clinic. For more in depth results we send the samples to a lab and usually have the results the next day. In addition to blood, urine and fecal tests, we also send out cytology, biopsies, and skin and ear scrapings.

Dog DNA Testing:
Mars Veterinary has developed Wisdom Panel, a mixed breed analysis. A blood sample is sent to the lab to determine what breed(s) are in your dog’s background.

Euthanasia:
A topic that is never easy, but we understand that it is needed. Whether you are present or choose not to be, we treat your pet with kindness and compassion.

Cremation:
Memorial Pet Care is our pet crematorium and cemetery. Through them you can have your pet cremated communally and have the ashes spread on a tree farm in Donnelly or you can have your pet privately cremated and have the ashes returned in a wooden urn.
